At our Bridges Out of Poverty training last week, we made a number of announcements at the end of the day. In case you forgot, here they are!

Google Group – It exists! Thanks, Julia Tabbut for helping set up and manage the group! Remember that non-Google users can use it as a “listserv” by emailing That email will go to all members of the Google Group.  If you haven’t yet received an invite to the group, please email Julia!

InterCorps Council of Minnesota is a group of AmeriCorps members whose vision is to promote engagement, communication, collaboration, and education and to empower AmeriCorps and the Minnesota community.

  • MLK Day January 17, 2011. This is an AmeriCorps Signature Service Day, which means AmeriCorps members across the nation will be making it a Day ON, not a Day Off! ICC MN is organizing service projects for members across the state, so keep an eye out for more information about this great event.

Progress Report

  • Next report will be released (sent to your supervisors via email) on January 1; the report must be submitted by 5pm on January 15.
  • Katie and I are tweaking the questions and forms to make them more user-friendly. We will email all VISTAs and Supervisors when these resources are updated.
  • Progress Report Google Document – This is a summary of your first progress report. Look for it in your email!

Mileage Reimbursement for October-December 2010 is due by January 7. (Tip: I would recommend you submit it before the holidays so you don’t forget!) Questions about mileage reimbursement? Read the Mileage Reimbursement Policy or ask Kimberly for further clarification.

Future Training dates: February 4, 2011 and April 8, 2011Remember: These trainings are mandatory for MLC VISTAs!

Resources Shared on Friday

  • YWCA Racial Justice Workshops on Confronting Racism, Understanding Privilege, and Unlearning Racism. Click Here for more information.
  • Walk-In Counseling Hours at Family Tree Clinic in St Paul and Walk-In Counseling Center in Minneapolis. The cost of counseling at both locations is free, but they encourage donations if you are able.
  • PBS People Like Us is the video series that Jodi showed video clips of during Bridges Out of Poverty. This series is available from the MLC VISTA Lending Library. Contact Kimberly to borrow the DVD. Click Here for more information on the series.
